Home Monster is a long overdue film starring upendra in the lead role. In this film, she is seen playing the role of a housewife, which is the first film in her career. It has a great cast for having fun with upendra. With so much to offer, one would expect fireworks. Simply put, it blends in a bit with the stereotypes that are generously inserted between progressive materials.
The story begins with two contrasting ways of introducing our main characters - a married couple. One knows that they live in an apartment complex, where the husband plays the role of housekeeper, while the wife is a working professional. There are some funny moments in the story, but they are few, between some regressive and offensive humor. The length of the film is just over two hours, but there are a lot of unnecessary elements in this short narrative that make the viewing experience tough.
The Home Secretary gains momentum towards the break, but it ends again in the second half with some useless writing. There are two important and related issues in the climax that are being addressed. While this is certainly admirable, the story is overshadowed by some sloppy, sluggish and reactionary writing on the small progressive thinking that leads to it. One wonders if they could have easily chosen a route that was taken short of sharing the messages they intended.
upendra is his usual character in this movie, although one can see him in some amazing get-up. For those who want to see its signature dialogue delivery and feedback, this works well. Vedhika has a promising character, but one wishes it could be better portrayed. Tanya Hope looks good, but her role is limited. The film has a large cast of veterans and new talent, and everyone tries their best.
The Home Minister had promised something new and disturbing in terms of what is being said, but thanks to the click used by the filmmakers, these promises are in line with expectations.
